Type Locality and Naming

Along the Zeaaglin hill, Zaunguz Karakum. A.G. Blyskavka, G.A. Gabrielyants, M.A. Tkachuk, 1962 (113, p.15).

Synonym: Zeaglin Suite, Зеаглинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

In the upper part - calcareous marls, white. In the lower part, clayey limestones similar to chalk. Thickness up to 40 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies conformably or with erosion on Maastrichtian deposits

Upper contact

It is overlain conformably by the Kyzyltakyr Fm.

Regional extent

Southern Pre-Aral, Eastern Ustyurt.

Fossils

In the upper part – with foraminifers of the Acarinina conicotruncata, Globorotalia angulata zone; spores-pollen - Lycopofiumsporites clavitoides Coup., Araucariates australis Cook., Oculopollis praedicatus Weyl. et Krieg., Selaginella australe (Cook.) Drozh., Matonia angulosa Mal., Podocarpus salebrosa Chlon.; ostracods - Cytherella caucasica Schneid., C. lagenalis (Marliere.), Curfsina formosa (Szerech.), Trachyleberidea acutiloba Marss., Pontocyprella bella (Chochl), Phacorhabdotus awuamosus Chochl.

In the lower part, with a complex of foraminifers of the Acarinina inconstans, Globoconusa daubergensis zone

Belongs to the lower Paleocene in the volume of the Danian- Selandian stage; in the Strat. sl. (444) - to the lower Paleocene.
